Many local veterans joined 20 wounded warriors from across the country as the community of Montrose hosted Mission: No Barriers June 11-17.
This event was organized and coordinated by volunteers from Welcome Home Montrose, whose guiding vision is for Montrose to become a no barriers city on behalf of all veterans who visit, vacation, or live here, no matter their physical abilities.
Recreation activities included: rafting, fly fishing, kayaking, photography, golf, hiking, metal detecting/treasure hunting, horseback riding, jeeping and archery. Arts, music, and martial arts were also offered.
We learned a lot about how we can improve the accessibility of our community and our recreation from these guests, while they experienced the natural beauty, clean air, adventure opportunities and opens arms support we have to offer here.
