The Warrior Resource Center

  6. Battling  high suicide, divorce, homeless, hunger and unemployment rates among veterans
  7. Identifying gaps and strengthening services for disabled
  8. Partnering with public entities to create awareness and cause change
  9. Receives no money from the federal government and never will
  10. Provides support, services and social activities to veterans and their families every day
  11. Creates a safe, nurturing bridge between military and civilian life
  12. Maintains a database of community members wanting to help veterans and their families
  13. Maintains a database of businesses who are providing services and discounts to veterans
  14. Acts as a referral source to businesses, services and benefits
  15. Maintains a database of individuals who will provide recreation activities with veterans
  16. Provides connections to adaptive recreation on the Western Slope
  17. Has Action Track Chairs to loan to any disabled veteran wanting independence on rough terrain
  18. Has shared office space for professionals to provide services to veterans one on one
  19. Provides counseling from the VetCenter twice a week
  20. Has a large “canteen” social room to host events, seminars etc for up to 250 people
  21. Hosts weekly tai chi and tae kwon do classes free to veterans and WHM volunteers
  22. Hosts weekly coffee and goodies for veterans only, every age, every experience, every ability
  23. Hosts monthly spouse luncheons whose cost is underwritten by Montrose businesses
  24. Receives donations of items and gives them directly to military families
  25. Coordinates the Eagle Head Cane Project and hosts a presentation of canes the first Thursday each month.  Over 115 canes have been handcrafted by wood carvers and woodturners as gifts (and often surprises) for veterans in Montrose County since 9.11.2012
